Queensland/North Coast Flooding - January 13, 2011

Happy New Year to all! Pray this year of 2011 will bring you abundance in God's love, grace and mercy.

I wanted to share with you on the Queensland/North Coast Flooding at this time the flood water have been receding and we are fine, however there are many less fortunate than us. Queensland and Brisbane are the areas that had the worst flooding and been hit the most. At this moment, 15 lives has been lost and 60 some people still unaccounted for. We are not sure if the North Coast is in the clear yet as waters are still coming down from up river.

Many are starting to go back to their homes to find what's left and other homes have all been engulfed by the waters. Alot of homes have no power and some relief has been provided through helicopters and boats coming to areas that cannot be reached. 70 smaller towns have been covered completely under water and a lot of other areas in the valley have been isolated due to the flooding.

Our church bldg. is fine as we had some concerns being its in the flood zone area and some of our church members’ homes were meters from the flood levels. There are still road closures due to damage of waters and people are not able to get out or in. Many shelters have been opened for those that have no place to go.

As I prayed this came to mind, that as the waters are hovering over this place and waters have been brought forth..there are still areas in Australia that are still in drought. God wants His Spirit to hover and go forth around people and to release His power to convict, break bondages, bring revelation and draw them to Himself in order to cause a new birth in them. Many prayers have been sent to this nation and I know for this particular community in Grafton its been years.

Isaiah 66:8 “Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever has heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jeruslaem’s birth pains begin, her children will be born.”

One story was shared of how this 13 year old boy died to save his 10 year old, younger brother. They were stuck in the floods as rescuers came but he told them take my brother first (they did) and when they went to recuse this boy he was swept by the waters. As they continue to assess areas, many are hurting, lost, crying, suffering, and in shock we continue to pray during this crisis that people will draw to God and salvations may be birthed.

Thank you for your prayers.
